3. Brazilian Congress of Mass Spectrometry (BrMASS 2009)  From 12 to 15 December this year (2009) will be held the 3rd. Congress of the Brazilian Society for Mass Spectrometry (3. BrMASS) in The Royal Palm Plaza Hotel in Campinas. The biennial congress BrMASS, in only two editions, has been consolidated as one of the major world events in mass spectrometry; we project for this year approximately 750 participants. The 3rd. BrMASS presents a unique opportunity for exchange between experts and users of the MS technology in Brazil, and will also include the participation of many researchers and professionals around the world (mainly from Latin America, North America and Europe) and many Brazilians who work abroad. 

This year, participating as special guests ( "plenary lecturers") 4 great experts in MS: Professor. R. Graham Cooks (today the greatest exponent in MS) and Dr. Richard Caprioli (MALDI Imaging), Roman Zubarev (ECD of biomolecules) and David Clemmer (Ion Mobility). "Keynote Lectures" also will be presented by: Catherine Costello (Thomson Medal in 2009 and Vice President of imsf), Julia Chamot-Rooke (President of the French Society of DM), Albert Lebedev (President of the Russian Society of DM) and prof. Simon J. Gaskell (Director Michael Barber Center for Mass Spectrometry, The University of Manchester), Robert Beynon (Vice-President of Research -- University of Liverpool), Jack Henion (Emeritus Professor of Analytical Toxicology, Cornell University), among several others. We will also have very important talks and posters from the main Brazilian researchers and professionals, giving a comprehensive view of MS work in Brazil. 

The meeting is sponsored by leading companies MS (Waters, Applied Biosystems, Thermo Scientific, Bruker, Varian, Agilent, Shimadzu, Perken Elmer, Leco, Sync Brazil), which will participate with booths and speakers. The 3rd. BrMASS also has the support of QBS and UNICAMP. The conference encourages the participation of students with discount prices and provides courses of MS on Saturday (12/12) and user's meetings organized by the sponsors on Sunday (13/12).
